Health, Alcohol and Psychosocial Factors in Eastern Europe (HAPIEE) is a cohort study conducted in four countries of Central and Eastern Europe (Poland, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, and Russia). The project is coordinated by a research team from University College London (UCL) and funded by grants from the Wellcome Trust (Grant No. 064947/Z/01/Z), the US National Institute on Aging (Grant No. IR0I AG23522-01) and the MacArthur Foundation (Health and Social Upheaval Network).
